A few weeks ago we started packaging new -dev releases with filedates, but this is very new; prior to that, there isn't anything we can do to figure out if there is a new -dev release or not. The best you can do is keep an eye on those projects ands ee if the -dev package has an updated filedate. Once it has, you should be able to get more proper updates for when new -dev releases are packaged.
