I had a user accidentally put in a single [/quote] tag and the filter replaced this instance with: </blockquote></div> which screwed the layout of the whole site. Does the code check for a matching set of tags??

Quicktags is designed to input html (or BBCode) into your text area. If you type a tag in, Quicktags will not recognize it because it does not own it. The close tags button will close any remaining open tags. For this reason it is not wise to manually type in tags if you are using quicktags.
