How to pass along a node reference using rules?

Hi,

I've been reading some of the other similar support requests on this issue, but I'm getting quite confused on exactly how I do this...

I have a specific rule where after creating a 'content type A' the user is directed to create a 'content type B' using rules. I want the 'content type B' node to reference the 'content type A' using the node reference URL module. I have set the node reference field to display a Page Not Found error if the user tries to create a 'content type B' directly. I think this should work ok, but the problem I'm having is passing along the node reference after creating a 'content type A' to the 'content type B' form. Instead after creating 'content type A' I get the Page Not Found error of "To create a new contribution, a referenced piece of content must be specified in the link you followed."

Could anyone help me know how to do this? I've been playing around with actions and conditions but I'm confused exactly how I do this.
