Hello, i was searching for a Drupal/Vanilla connection... and first found the addon "ProxyConnect". There was a hint and link for a new addon JSconnect http://vanillaforums.org/addon/jsconnect-plugin

Is this Drupal project related to this new method? Is it a seperate solution?

When this module was released, only proxyconnect was available as an sso solution.
The JSConnect is a great improvement, and I have updated the code, It's in testing phase !
The JSConnect plugin for vanilla is wonderful, and allow cross domain single-sign-on.
I expect to release the new version of orchid for drupal 6 and 7 based on the JSConnect during this week, and I have integrated image style / imagecache to sync avatar with vanilla with a given preset size.
The block / panel's pane to embed vanilla is still there too.
