Description

Hi,

I have just realised that leech module does not respect the default settings for a given node type. For example I set up the default for a leech source to publish items and never delete items.

When an authenticated user adds a feed, it defaults to other options, that are "non published' and 'delete after an hour".

I think it's a bug because the default behaviour is clearly stated in the content type leech settings, but are not respected at all.

Anything I could have overlooked?

Thanks

Anyone here can confirm that leech does not respect the default values settings?? Like I said, all the feeds and not published by default, but the settings clearly indicate that the feed items should be published in the default settings of the leech source node type.

Any tips, ideas?
Thanks

I am having the same problem here. I am creating an aggregator from multiple users. In order to get around a leech limitation I am creating a user per feed I am leeching. Leech will grab the feeds but will not publish them.

Guys I don't have the bandwidth to do some extra tests on this, but I will keep this in mind when working on other stuff with leech these days - what are you applying as a stop gap solution? Is there anybody having this problem with the 4.7.x version too?

The only solution I found at the moment is that I have to send all new leech sources to unpublish state and then modify them by hand before approving them, which takes a ridiculous amount of time.

My default leech node ttype is set to publish all items and to never promote any item and each time a source is added, the defaults are that published is off and the promote values are to something like 3.

So i think that the default values are just plain broken... I could test on another site see what happens, I'll post details in this issue.

Any news on this? I don't have this problem on my test site: http://leech5.devseeddev.com/tracker . Can you describe the default settings on the feeds that don't work right? Did you try to update to the 1.7 version?

Hey there Alex, sorry for the delay on the response....

I'm running on leech 1.9 now and I still have the same issue. The default settings are set to : 'publish items' and 'never delete'. But every time I add a new fed source, it appears as 'unpublished' (the checkbox is unchecked) and also the delete option is set to 'one hour'.

This also creates a bug when I update leech sources, like changing the feed URL, since then the feed comes back to it's (false) default values, and the new items are then not published, and also weirdly not attached to the default node type.

When 'publish items' is not selected, the nodes are actually created WITHOUT any content type, they are just 'nothing' as far as drupal node types are concerned...

Hope this helps, I'm of course available for any testing you need.

Hey there, any news about this, are you able to reproduce??

Hey patchak, I just tried 1.9 with Drupal 5.3 and the development snapshot with Drupal 5.2 - all as user 1 though - what permissions do the authenticated users have? does the same error occur when you try to reproduce it as user 1?

Hi Alex,

I like Leech modul. Its great work.

I tested many times version Leech 1. 9 with last Dupal 5.6 on PHP 4.3.10.

It all works fine only with these errors:

I set up the default for all leech items only to publish, not promote in front page and not commnets.
When I retrieved new feed items, the defaults value for all new items are published is on, promote values is ON and comments are ON.

I set permissions to the authenticated and anonymous user ON (only for access feeds).

Thanks for your help.

M.
