Which browsers are supported?

FF4+
Safari5+
Chrome
Opera

IE7 will work but there are known issues when using Superfish, otherwise will work
IE6 support extends to not breaking the layout, thats it, even that will be deprecated in the next version for RTL (right to left languages)

So, as far as I am concerned there is no "problem" here, if you want to use it then you accept my terms of usage - that is your decision. I will not accept patches for these browser either. Your suggestion is non-viable from my perspective, while you think this means "just add a few lines, whats the problem", however every time I change something in the theme someone will need to write a new IE6 file, and that won't be me, so it will almost always be out of date. I am a busy person, I have much better things to do than worry about IE6 or your requirement to support - you make the choice, live with it or don't.

With usage of both IE6/7 almost non-existent there is no need to support these browsers any longer, I have been doing so for 10 years, time to give the hacking a rest and focus on mobile web and the new technologies that people actually are using, not 65 million year old fossils.

That in essence is what it comes down to, do I spend a lot of time and effort supporting legacy IE that less and less people are using, or spend a lot of time supporting iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry etc that more and more people are using? The answer is a no-brainer; one million web enabled devices are sold every day, do you think IE6 is getting one million new users everyday? No.

FYI last year I was invited to a meeting with Microsoft IE9 development team and I announced to them that I had dropped support for IE6 in my themes, to which they reacted with a round of applause and celebratory back slapping. This is fact, I can verify it also, since webchick and a number of other Drupal people were in that meeting. IE6 is dead, let it RIP, and IE7 has one foot firmly in the grave, I have no issues giving a helping shove in the back.
