I'm about to begin a site that will have some content that can be voted on. The idea is that when pieces receive enough votes they are promoted to the front page, or a dedicated page.

I've been playing around with most of the modules and just wondered if there is one in particular that folks would recommend.

Drupalit and vote up/down would seem to suit my needs. However, there's also fivestar and jrating.

I like vote_up_down's extended features, including the storylink module, viewing users by votes, etc, but I guess most of that can be done in the other modules using views and CCK.

So, is there something I'm missing that would clearly suggest I should go for Drupalit over vote up/down, or vice-versa?

I've been using Vote Up/Down along with Views and have been happy with it. One thing is that it is missing a promoted to front page date, which would be nice to have. So instead I'm just updating touching the creation date when it is promoted to the front page so that stories are sorted correctly, which works, but isn't an ideal solution.

I've not looked into Drupalit, but I'm also interested in hearing how that compares to Vote Up/Down.

Thanks, Michael.

It's interesting to hear of that limitation. Can it be got round with the actions module?

Anyone else?

You might be able do what is necessary with CCK, but I haven't had time to try and see if it could be done or not.

The actions module allows you to update the creation node time, but there is no promoted time field to update.

Any new info on which of these modules works best to emulate basic Digg-like functionality in a Drupal site?

Which one works best with a 5.x site? Any problems with either of the modules?

my best advice is to use a test site and test them, the problem is the word "best" is subjective. What works best for me , may not for you and vice versa.

...your best advice is very good advice indeed. Thanks.

Yup, fair advice!

How do I promote a node to a front page with the help of Druplait?
I've set the voting action to promote to a front apge when there are 1 or more votes for it, but it still does not appear on the front page. Please help :)

I've set up a digg like stories using vote up/down, storylink, actions and voting_action modules just fine. Just see the install.txt included in the latest vote up/down module. Or you can check or test my live sample here.
