Waiting list

Is there a plan to implement a waiting list feature in this module?
With this feature in place users would be allowed to register even after registration limit has been reached, although their status would be different - "Waiting list" instead of "Registered".
Next it would be ideal that if one of the users with "Registered" status deleted their registration, first user who has "Waiting list" status would be notified that spot became available or automatically upgraded to "Registered" and automatic e-mail notification would be sent to this user. I guess this last part (automatic e-mail notification) can be achieved with Rules module.
