Attached here are 2 screenshots. First one is display when I click on 'home' button to return to a home screen, then, after 2-3 sec delay another home screen is displayed.

Is this the problem in PhoneGap, jQueryMobile or the DrupalGap app?

This is now fixed (7.x-1.1 and in 7.x-1.x-dev).

I pushed the 7.x-1.1 tag earlier today, it should be available tomorrow. As for the PhoneGap portion, the latest tag (1.02) has this fix, plus many other improvements. https://github.com/signalpoint/DrupalGap/tags
