It appears the Project module (same module used to display latest releases of Drupal) is not actively being developed, the last release was for Drupal 4.4. Any idea if this module will be updated anytime soon?

Yeah, I'd like to know where this is at, and if it's been replaced, then with what? What does drupal.org use??

drupal.org uses the project
drupal.org uses the project module (if you look at the url path when viewing the file downloads). dunno what version.
HEAD
There was a recent(ish) post stating that drupal.org now runs on drupal cvs HEAD, so I would imagine it uses the HEAD version of project.module.
It *may* be worth trying this version out with Drupal 4.5x - note that I haven't tried it myself. Although it's not generally a good idea to mix version numbers it may just work...
