I am having trouble uploading- can I just upload the files to the folder, or do I have to do it through drupal?
any help would be appreciated!

You can't just upload the image through FTP

If you want to upload many images, there a module called "image import" that allows you to upload all your images to a folder in your server and import them to Drupal subsequently.

thanks :) one more question- how do you see the images? in other words, if I've configured it and uploaded a few images- how do I access them?

vm’s picture

The images show in the node after the node is submitted.

uh-oh.... maybe there is more to this than I thought.
what I've done:
1. Configure the Import path (which is modules/image/import) via the image import
2. Set Default Image Path to 'import'
3. upload images to import folder

I get the impression that im doing something wrong/missing a step. Can someone help?
Thanks!

Open Admin page and find the Import Image menu.

When I go to imge import, I get 'configure the image import module settings' is there another image import that i'm completely missing?
thanks!

No, not other module. Just other link.

There's a link Admin » Settings » Image import that you opened.

There's also a link Admin » Content Management » Image import where you'll do the trick.

If you want the images to show up as their own node, and potentially in an image gallery, you have two options:

• Upload each image via your browser by creating an image node
• Install the image import module and upload the images into the appropriate directory. Then have Drupal import them.

If these are images you just want uploaded to your site for use, but don't need to be their own node and don't need to be in the gallery, you have two other options:

• Upload via FTP
• Using TinyMCE and IMCE together to be able to upload using the WYSIWYG menu bar.

Personally, I only use the top two options when it is an image I want in a gallery or is an image I want to be its own node. For example, event photos or a photo I want to upload and have information and comments under it.

Otherwise, I upload all my images via FTP or IMCE.
