We were having some problems attaching files to posts and I think the quota may have been reached - so I upped the "total file size per user" and it worked sometimes but a lot of time now it just stalls on the uploading. I have found the uploading graphic just keeps turning but it never shows the uploaded file until I click submit at the bottom of the page for the node - at which point I view the node and the file is actually attached.

I haven't changed any modules or any settings as far as I can remember lately - other than the total file size. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on here?

Any progress on this?

I've been seeing the same thing for some time in v. 5.x. I'm now using 5.3 and still the same: the uploading graphic just keeps turning when you hit the "Attach" button, but it never completes. Hit submit and the attached file is there.

Some other clues:

- when you look to 'edit' the submitted node there are two copies of the attached file, one called original_name.ext and a second copy called original_name_0.ext.

- the 'list' box is checked for the duplicate file "_0", but not the original

- both files are first correctly created in the designated "/tmp" directory, and then moved to the designated "/files" directory

- if you just hit "Submit" the node, rather than using the "Attach" button, you get the intended result with no duplicate.

Driving me batty. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the upload size limits AFAICT

I haven't (yet) found this problem describe in a drupal post, but I'm still looking...
