After building a page-front.tpl.php for a client, which was identical to the original page-tpl.php save for a single different query (which works and is fine), and setting the default home page to either "node" or "<front>", I get a WSOD only on the front page and ONLY in Google Chrome (Ver 17.0.963.83 m).

Searching for an answer, I turned first, and seemingly correctly, to the performance page and turned off everything and it fixed the problem. Turning on options one by one, I found the it was Page Compression that causes the problem.

Then, I discovered that it was affecting the front page of one of my own sites, as well. Performing the same operations on performance page compression fixed that, too.

So, that is two unrelated sites with the same problem and the same fix.

Site 1 is running Drupal 6.22
Site 2 is running Drupal 6.25

To complicate things even more, both of these sites did NOT exhibit this behavior on my local computer's WAMP installation. They only did this when the sites were served up from the hosting service, and these were on two separate hosting services!.

Thoughts?
