Hello everybody,

I have just come across this affordable VPS plans from myhosting.com. Does anybody here have experience with myhosting? Is it good and reliable?

Also, which plan would you pick if you are going to use their services? My website will be basically a terminology search website with millions of records stored and it will be displayed using Views? Any idea? Also, what would be better for Drupal performance; Windows or Linux?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a few cheap VPSs out there. Cheap Virtuozzo is often oversold. I used one, PhotonVPS, their sister company YardVPS is even cheaper. Photon were OK. I use Linode, but it is much more expensive. Toratek also claim quality hardware, no overselling of OpenVZ, and have been offering d.o. members half price. Shared hosting is usually dreadful, but hotdrupal.com is well liked. I have just put a client on Evo Hosting in the UK, even their cheap packages seem to actually work most of the time, .I think owing to generous RAM allocation, server setup and SSD hard drives, they give clients access to daily site backups, and are the right side of the Atlantic for you. If you want to save money I would try them and move to a VPS if it runs into problems.

I think there are many better choices for a drupal hosting other than MyHosting. Such as Hostgator or InMotion Hosting.

Hi memoday,

As you can see myhosting.com has a number of VPS solutions that you can choose from. I have two suggestions for you depending on your knowledge of VPS and drupal itself. If you are comfortable with building a drupal server from scratch I suggest you go with a Linux Developer plan in which case you would have full control over the entire setup of your drupal sites; this option does require advanced knowledge of VPS server maintenance and setup.

If you are looking for an easier solution with automated provisioning features, I suggest you go with a custom VPS with cPanel or Plesk to handle the install of drupal. cPanel or Plesk will also give you other features for managing your sites and services.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask, or contact our 24x7 support team at support@myhosting.com.

I think the worst thing I know that companies do is to go for a company instead of the services they offer, I mean if the best company offer the worst services or if a company offer everything in cheap prices but do not guarantee uptime or something these are all the issues that should be considered before you actually go an buy a web hosting for your company.

I am using this VPS company for been a year, they are offer a great stability and up time with all other features…

As per my experience I am happy with vpswebserver.com I like the speed, support, etc. They also do drupal upgrades via plesk.I would suggest to drupal site's owners to give them a try.

Instead of buying just VPS, get Drupal-optimized managed VPS with Apache Solr, Varnish, APC, Drush out of the box form http://drupion.com!

I have never used Drupion but having spent a huge amount of time looking after various VPSs and servers for small users which never made me a profit, I have to say it looks attractive. They also say they offer servers in Europe which is a plus.
