It's a great module and I do "respect the will of the author to not further ", but I wonder if it's possible to sort out your issues and return back to normal? Why almost 3000 users should suffer and get "Project not supported" red messages in their Status Update?

Title: distribute on drupal.org » Is Tagging module abandoned?

alexbk66, there is a process for dealing with abandoned projects already. The question is more "who will maintain this project?" than "will $PREVMAINTAINER resurrect it?". If this module is abandoned, anyone can put their hand up as a replacement maintainer.

Your quote makes it look like the maintainer posted an announcement - any chance you can link that in here so people know what's happening?

It does appear that there is active work (commit a couple of weeks ago) at https://github.com/EugenMayer/tagging ?

The maintainer did post an announcement right on the project page when he forked/moved the module to Github. The project page contents have since been restored by killes@www.drop.org. Here was the contents of the message which can be see in this revision of the project page http://drupal.org/node/649270/revisions/1961296/view

We will no longer distribute modules on drupal.org, as we are not accepting the way it is governed. Further readups: http://drupal.org/node/711000

You can find the maintained code on https://github.com/EugenMayer - all co/maintainers which want to continue, just give me a note to add you on github.

Please respect the will of the author to not further distribute on drupal.org and do not clone the repos and republish here. If people can't hold back on this, we consider closing down all the public repos and maintainershipt - thank you for respecting this.

Personally I'm hoping someone will take over the project as I cannot because I don't have the skills or time to do so.
