Some startup/usage instructions would be nice : )

Description

I'm sure I'll figure out how to use this module by playing around with panels, etc. but it would be nice if the readme contained at least _some_ usage instructions about where to start with it. All it contains is a list of what the module does and a list of features in the to do list.

There are no usage instructions in the readme at all, nor anything about how to start using it.

I'm assuming that the assumption is that people installing this for the first time are familiar with panels. If that's the case, the readme ought to at least say "Go to the panels settings area to set up panels using this module's features."

It's possible that I'm missing something here... I'd hate to be the test idiot in the idiot-proofing portion of using this, but if I am, at least it may help the next poor fool! : )

Okay... I give up. How do I use this module? I can't even tell what, if anything, has been added to views or panels.

Right now the module exposes a "pane" to your panels for each vocabulary. All the UI is in the config for the pane. So click the "Add content" icon and choose "Taxonomy browser: vocabname".

The new version (RSN) will move things around a bit, adding an "Arguments" tab to each panel where you can add, config, and reorder the argument handlers. I'm hoping this argument API will find its way into panels proper, so that people can write their own interoperable argument handlers.

I will give some attention to writing a good "Getting Started" section in README.txt for the next release.

Hello,

I still can't figure out how to use this.

I go to admin/build/panels, add a new panel, and now under Add Content am I supposed to see "Taxonomy browser: vocabname"? It's not under Block or Views. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Andrey.

Ah, I see.. thought I had the latest version of Panels, to get version 2 alpha 5, I needed to go to a separate links. Nevermind my question :-)

did the new "getting started" info (just put it up last night) get you going successfully, mr. andrey? If so, I'll mark this issue as fixed.

Hi ederex,
Thanks for the module. In the homepage explanation you forgot to state that it is needed to click on 'send arguments' for the "taxonomy_term" view.

I've decided to help a bit with the documentation - I think you can place this:

* Create Categories, Vocabularies and attach content to it.
* Install Views, Panels 2 and Panels Taxonomy.
* Enable the Modules and set the access roles.
* In the views enable the default view "taxonomy_term".
* Create a panel page.
* Add "taxonomy browser", and display at least one display options. For example "Term title as page title"
* Add "taxonomy_term" as Embedded. Enable the "Send arguments" checkbox.
* Save the panel.
* View the panel (example: your site/panel path/1).

While clicking on the different terms, the user is not redirected to a different page, rather – he stays in the same Panel – and this is basically what this module is about.
