lee20 commentedI was able to override theme_addthis_element() in order to override the button image. But it would be ideal if this could be done without having to use a custom hook.

gisleDowngrading this to "minor", since it is a cosmetic issue (please see guide to Priority settings).
This will not be added to the project until somebody gets a patch through to RTBC.

Ability to add configurable button settings has been added as a fieldset under the Basic configuration page settings.
