20 good sites urgently wanted

websesame - June 14, 2007 - 11:45

I am just concluding a Drupal book (See details at http://tinyurl.com/2rmd99 ), and I am looking for 20 extra good sites for illustration. If you could do with some free publicity, please send me your Drupal site URL (s), as well as a list of the component that went into the development of each.
My email : mail@websesame.co.uk

great idea for a book..

Dublin Drupaller - June 14, 2007 - 12:04

Hi websesame,

Recommend you check out the Drupal showcase page...and have a gander at Dries' blog. He regularly posts up interesting Drupal sites + screen shots + links in his personal blog.

Also, it's worth giving the lullabot team a shout...they have done some v. interesting work recently and can also explain how they did it.

If you're looking for innovative use of Drupal+Ajax, I would recommend: http://isaachorton.liquidratio.com/
and have a look at how you navigate through his taxonomy.

I hope I get a free copy

websesame - June 14, 2007 - 13:27

The book will be contributed to the Drupal community as a free e-book download. I am afraid you will have to purchase the print edition ( a limited number will be printed on pre publication order basis only) :( ,
I wish I was rich enough to also give it away free.
Can you send me list of modules that you used in above examples.

themegarden ?

themegarden.org - June 14, 2007 - 21:35

Maybe it's not what you looking for, but Drupal Theme Garden is the Drupal Themes Showcase - place where you can see live, in action a lot of drupal themes (themes for drupal 4.7 and for drupal 5).
Maybe it could be interesting for your readers - if they wish to choose some theme (all themes on Drupal Theme Garden are provided "as is" from http://drupal.org/project/Themes)

New Site almost ready for release

bobwaycott - June 18, 2007 - 15:14

Hey there. I figure I'll submit a site. I've been working on it for the past month. Customization and theming is heavy (in the sense that it in no way looks like Drupal default).

The address? http://www.pubplanters.com

Like I said, it's nearly ready for release as we're working out a few bugs. But click on one of the latest forum posts (Clicking the forum link sends you to a login page). You'll see the Drupal and phpBB theming has been extensive on both sides to provide a seamless experience.

This is what I do best (and am available for hire).

I have another site that is in the works and will be completed in the next week or so; still waiting on a domain transfer for the client before I can provide a link.

My personal site stands waiting for customization as client needs overpower my own.

Thanks,

Bob

OMG: brilliant stuff

Well, I'll throw Ubercart's

rszrama - June 21, 2007 - 13:22

Well, I'll throw Ubercart's site into the mix... http://www.ubercart.org

It is the community site for the growing Ubercart project. We needed strong forums, so I spent plenty of time making sure they were nice and usable. We ended up doing some custom development to get them usable and looking good. A forum member named GoustiFruit contributed to the look of Flatforum, and a Drupal community member named Diego Lago of Springmile Design did the site's theme and logo for us. There's still so much work to be done, but I'm swamped with development on the modules themselves. Further plans for improvement may be found in this post.

It's almost not worth listing all the modules, because there are many. Significantly, though, we're using:

For the forums:
Custom Flatforum (me + GoustiFruit), custom developed Private Message 2.0, Subscriptions, Spam, custom developed Comment Page, Comment Upload, Upload Preview, and User Badges, Userpoints, Smileys, Code Filter, Mark Forums as Read, and Views for the recent posts block on the front page

For newsletters:
Simplenews

For projects:
Project, Project Issue

For API documentation:
Views, CCK, Contemplate, Code Filter

For administration:
Comment Mover, Fast toggling, Update Status,

Miscellaneous:
AdSense, Google Analytics, LoginToboggan, Pathauto, XML Sitemap

I'm sure there are some that I missed... I also worked up a custom module to keep track of development leads called Leadlog that may or may not get put up on drupal.org. If it's going to happen, it's going to have to wait until I have the time to post it up. ; ) For now... it's back to finishing up the PayPal integration!

Let me know if you have any questions.
