Hi,

I installed drupal 7.12 (and the current 7.x-dev version) on one of our hosts and it turns out it does not work.

After the installation, when I try to login, I get an immediate "Access denied" and these kinds of error-messages:

I run it on PHP 5.3.10 (also shows on 5.3.8), PHP-FPM (chrooted to the user's homedirectory), Apache 2.2.22 and FreeBSD 8.2 amd64.

Some of these errors show-up on installation already, but the installation completes without fatal errors.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
I tried to ktrace the php-fpm process, but there's nothing obvious going on.
The session files in the tmp-directory actually also contain the above error-message.

Hopefully, somebody can shed some light onto this.

Is this with a bare core installation or do you have contrib modules installed?

NOTICE level messages are fairly common from contrib modules that have not been updated to the standards of newer versions of php. They may or may not be related to your inability to log in.

We solved it on our own.
It turns out, the default php.ini has
session.save_handler = files
but Drupal wants "user" instead.

Maybe this should be checked in the installer somewhere.

Interesting. The following:

ini_set('session.save_handler', 'user');

should be part of the sites/default/default.settings.php that you must copy to sites/default/settings.php upon installation.

Sorry for the delay.
Thought I would get a notification on a new post here....

I tried both the bare-bones and the standard installation.
It does not make a difference.
I did not add anything else - I can't login after all ...

On the php-fpm mailing-list, somebody said this is because "the $user global variable is null , while it
should contain user object".

We are really just hosting this stuff, we are not hardcore drupal experts.
How would I debug this?
