I was just updating my profile on drupal.org and saw the search function (sort function) for the interests (eg. is politics at http://drupal.org/profile/interest/politics).

Can someone point me to the area where I can configure my site to do this?

Hi James,

Go to ADMINISTER >> USERS >> CONFIGURE >> PROFILE >>

and use the FREEFORM LIST type input option when you ADD NEW FIELD
