I am going to start the D7 port and we can hopefully create a release candidate for D6 and D7 at the same time.

Great. We're in the middle of a D6 -> D7 upgrade at the moment, so I can't promise I'll be able to contribute much, but I'm more than happy to run tests.

I just committed the initial port. The new object oriented caching in D7 has made things a lot easier.

Good luck with your D6 -> D7 upgrade... I recently used the word 'disaster' to describe my experience attempting an upgrade.
