the rest of the teaser page does show the AVG rating, yet only the top two nodes display the rating feature. What to do?

So I "updated" to 5.x-1.x-dev and this solved the issue, now all node teasers get a rate option. Yay! Any chance this *-dev will reach official release so update-stats stops complaining about a "newer" version?
