Cannot apply default imagecache preset on default user picture

So I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem. On the Account Settings page, I can add a default picture to be used, but it has to be a relative path, I don't actually upload anything through the drupal interface. As such, no imagecache presets are generated for the default picture, so I can't actually dynamically change the size of the default picture throughout my site.

Is there a way to create imagecache presets for the default user picture?
