I can confirm that the local module is still very slow
I've the website (www.toppop.nl)
When I log in as admin (with native english as default) the site is very fast
When I login as a normal user (standard set to dutch, 95% translated, it's a dutch site)
it's very, very slow.
(tested on two, not state of the art, but fast servers...)

This gave me a lot of headbreakers but at last when I disabled the local.module the site was as crisp, clean and fast when logged in as an admin or as normal user or as leecher soo the local.module is still a really big slowdown. (most of the headbreakers was/is about when logging in as admin the site was fast and when not logged in the site is slow slow slow ... even with caching enabeld)

Does any one have the same problems with 5,1 and locale.module?

hmm this was no about local switcher but more about locale.module (core)
