Contextual Filters not showing results

Hi!

I've been trying contextual filters, but I can't get them to work.
Here's what I'm trying:
I want to get all the results for a field in a content type

-I create a view (block)
-I filter to the specific content type I want
-I ad a contextual filter
-WHEN THE FILTER VALUE IS NOT AVAILABLE, I choose default value: Content ID from URL
-I apply
-I use the preview with contextual filters
-I search for a node which I know for sure contains the field I'm looking for (I tried node/46 and 46 and the actual value I'm looking for)

This returns nothing...
Could anybody point me in the right direction, please?
