Community Media Show

This is a placeholder for a Drupal Community Media Documentation Sprint in April 2012.

Please use this page as a Wiki for your installation and configuration notes and questions.

Community Media Show is a basic content type used in Community Media installations. It is designed to collect information from a producer about an individual "show." In the simplest configuration, Show can replace the paper "cablecast agreement" many stations use.

The workflow that controls a Show from submission to published node is entirely up to the organization. Some stations only publish select nodes after a staff review. Other stations publish every show node.

To get started, you will want to establish a link between the Shows and a Project. In most cases, the Shows added to a Project are all the same language, genre, and rating. To simplify the process of adding Shows with accurate metadata for producers, the Project module includes an option to auto-populate Show with any fields shared between the Project and Show content types. While language, genre, and rating are commonly auto-populated, these option can be used with any field you add to both types.

Planning Project and Show Forms
The first step is to decide which fields on the Project form you want to be able to auto-populate on the Show form. Since both Project and Show are completely configurable in terms of the number and types of fields you may include, you can have as few or as many fields set to auto-populate.

Modules commonly used to customize Show:

Project (groups show by series)
PBCore (language, rating, and genre)
Creative Commons (licensing)
Media (for video on demand)

Video on Demand can be added from a number of providers including (YouTube, Vimeo, BlipTV, Archive.org and PEG.TV).
