Well, Special menu items module works almost great but it gets rid of all the breadcrumbs in my theme as well as in the admin theme.

I use Omega html5 theme for the main theme.

Any idea ?

This is also happening for me using the latest Zen 5.x theme and Drupal 7.14 (seven theme for backend). Backend and frontend breadcrumbs gone.

I was using menu block and menu views also and found this post: http://drupal.org/node/1535524

I changed the weight of the menu views module to -1 and the problem has gone.
