I'm using http://drupal.org/project/ajax_comments on my site for comments and it would be awesome to be able to have the same feature for messages

If you feel that this issue is still valid, feel free to re-open and update it (and any possible patch) to work with the 7.x-1.x development branch (bug fixes only) or the development 7.x-2.x branch (bug fixes and feature requests).
