i've read a few threads on sports and drupal, but none have answered my questions. i want to help a friend make a custom system for a small sports pool - two of the functions that i need to start are:
1. after a database of players is created, i need members of the community to be able to "add" them to their team(typical fantasy sports tools), and after they select a player, that player now disappears from everyone's options. i guess trading can come later on but is there a module that deals with people collecting assets?
2. the members have to update their stats on their own, but in the views module is there a way to display the total number of a column?
ie you have 8 players on your list and you want the system to add up the total "rushing yards". then from a larger view, you can see which member of the pool has tallied up the most rushing yards from all the 8 players on his/her team.

uh oh, still no edit on the forums here... i found the table manager module and i'm wondering if that's right for me? i decided that members dont have to go through the system where they pick players and they disappear from potential selections, i decided that members get to add football players on their own. so basically, when they register and sign in they get an overview of the players they added, and the option to add new players. when they add a new player they get the option to fill in all sorts of stats(and update those stats), and then they get a table displaying all their players and stats. on the main page of the site you get to see all the members in the pool's ranking based on what was tallied up in their individual tables.
ok found the edit - now i'm on my third post. sorry but thinking out loud helps me a lot! i've made great progress in just a night and i found that the views calc module does a great job of this, i just need to figure out how to take the totals of views calc and display those in another table for site-wide scoring.
RE: Fantasy Sports
Did you get any further with this, do have anything to share?
Thanks
