Deprecate the module in favor of SecurePages

This has been addressed in the past, the two are completely different from each other and address different issues. This is a much more secure SSL implementation in that it has less of it's config in the DB and more of it in the modules themselves which make it less vuln to things such as MIA's. It's also easier to set up than and more stable than SP's especially for D6. As for SP's being more stable, that is very debatable considering it's slow progress and history of known bugs that persisted for more than 4 years.

There are several issues with both UC_SSL and SP's that are always server related. SP's will not work on many many servers, where as UC_SSL will work on those. And then there are other servers where UC_SSL does not work, but SP's does. So which one you use can depend more upon the server than one might think. Most loops are almost always incorrect server settings or a badly developed drupal site that uses goto in unconventional ways for example. The solution is to use whichever works for you. There is no end-all solution for SSL atm. But as a general rule of thumb, uc_ssl tends to work in more instances than SP's. It's also a much more lightweight application and there is less that can break with uc_ssl compared to the much much larger SP's module.
