Comments vs Forum
Ok guys, bear with me here.
As I understand it, a forum post is basically an "article" (of some description) followed by a series of comments in Drupal.
What I can currently do in Joomla is insert a bot into content that prints "Discuss this article in the forums" in each article, which links to a forum page.
While in Drupal I'm happy to include comments on blogs and articles as they stand - and would prefer it that way - I'd also like "Blog Discussions" and "Article Discussions" to appear as "boards(?)" in the Forums page.
Can anyone tell me if this is possible, or - more importantly - how difficult this would be to implement?
Alternatively, can the comments be linked directly to forum posts?
Failing this, would it be possible to create a forum style view list of all blog posts and article posts that could be links to from the main forum (introductory) page?
I don't have a released site yet but am planning on using v5.1 as the platform.
Many thanks for any info you can provide,
Gareth

Same challenge..
Can oneone help here?
Good news, it is all in Drupal core already!
Gareth,
First, I must encourage you to deploy Drupal 6.X,as it is the strongest and most stable release, with an exciting amount of compatible modules available.
However, in your case, you would not even need extra modules just to get Forums and Comments going. They are all in the Drupal 6 core. Furthermore, you reading this comment right here is happening on the same platform you are describing.
You and your users under Drupal can have your own, separate blogs, and other users can post comments. Same things with forums. Right now, you are reading my comment on your article under a forum. When seeing a list of recent comments, clicking on that comment will bring up the article in the forum with all the comments associated with that article.
Joomla is often criticized for not having the same functionality out of the box, as you have personally experienced that.

@Elteto: Drupal 6 didn't exist when this was posted 2 years ago. ;)

I'm looking for folks to help me out by posting in my Coulee Region forums. You don't need to live in the area; there's plenty of general forums. But please, no Drupal support questions. :)
Helped the wrong member...
Michelle,
You are absolutely correct, I should have addressed it to the poster of the 2009 post, I was responding to him saying he had the same challenge. Hopefully, his same challenge did not include the 5.X intentions...

I am sure you must have figured out that you can do all of that in Drupal (bearing in mind you asked the question a couple of years ago :-))
