I would like a short name (the original term name) for my drop down menu, and a long name with keyword terms for title meta tag, and a friendly name for h1 tag.

Try this module for your H1s, and the page title module for your title tags. Then use the term itself (or taxonomy menu + nice menu modules) for your drop-down menu.
