Wrong Admin Theme
field4000 - June 29, 2007 - 04:41
Hi all,
I am using a custom theme for my site, but am using Garland for the admin.
When I go to edit content, add pages/stories, add blocks, etc. I get my custom theme rather than the admin theme as desired.
Could anybody shed some light as to why this may be happening? Or could someone suggest a remedy?
Thanks muchly in advance!
Cheers.

Admin theme will only
Admin theme will only applied to URL pattern admin/*
content editing pages are not technically & logically admin pages.

Simple
In Drupal, adding or editing content is not considered part of the administration pages. This may seem odd from people who are transitioning from CMSs or blog software that assumes a non-changing team of editors and administrators, but remember that Drupal is community-oriented. A regular community member might feel weird if they suddenly saw an administration interface when they were writing content.
Setting the admin theme to pages.
Cheers for your reply.
As it will only be one person editing the site, is there anyway to set those above mentioned pages to the admin theme?
I tried adding a custome template: node-add.tpl.php - but to no avil.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
This should be an option ...
While I understand the argument, I think it is a mistake to assume that all communities function as described above. There should be an option in the Admin Theme configuration that applies it to content editing pages as well. Or, allows block-like control for the pages on which the Admin theme will be applied.
Create custom module

I have found a work around
I have found a work around of sorts.
I used the taxonomy theme module to specify themes for each of the pages that I created.
I left the admin pages as the default Garland. It seems to work fine.
This is probably only good for small(ish) sites.
here's a couple more modules
here's a couple more modules for setting themes...
node style for setting theme based on node
role theme switcher for setting theme based on user role
edit: tried all three of them out and taxonomy_theme seems to work the best / offers the most flexibility for the problem at hand
The way I got around this
The way I got around this was to set the preferred theme for myself to Garland when logged in (users/[uid]/edit). That way visitors see my theme, and I see Garland.
