Is this possible in Views?

Hi,

I'm having real trouble creating a user list in views. What I need is a system-wide list including the profile fields 'surname', 'first name' and 'department' where 'department' should be presented as a link to a refined user list for that department and 'surname' should link to the user's profile page. The trouble I'm having:

- unable to present 'department' or 'surname' as a link.
- the resulting list shows nothing but one name duplicated over a number of pages.

Am I trying to achieve something that Views isn't capable of?
