I am going crazy now and I really need someone to help me :(

In checkout the customer sees the address fieldset "Billing information" - but without postal code/ zip code field. When the customers fills the form in and wants to get to the next steps, the form is reloaded with a message "This field must be filled in" - just now the customer sees the postal code field for the first time. When I look at the checkout source code there is no field - so it is not hidden by CSS or something.

Additionally in Shipping information there is no such postal code field... and I do not really understand where I can change this. Can somebody please help me?

What country? Ultimately this may just be a support request or feature request for appropriate country support in the Address Field queue. It doesn't come from Commerce itself.

Thank you for your prompt response - I opened an issue in Adress Field project issue forum: http://drupal.org/node/1539744

The problem appears when a reduced the country selection list only to a few countries,. In my case when the customer comes to the checkout Germany is already chosen - but no postal code field appears.

Ahh, ok, thanks for opening the issue in that project. Once the 1.3 release is out, I plan to dive into the queue there along with a few other contribs.
