Here is a patch against the OpenPublish 7.x-panels branch that integrates OpenPublish with Panopoly, America's favorite Panels based distribution. The basic work here is to combine the module stack and appropriate load the Panopoly apps into the distribution.

Thanks but what does this achieve?

It's great that bridges can be built between Drupal distributions, specifically to:

  • benefit from one distro offering functionality that the other doesn't
  • if one distro falls behind in development, or stops getting supported all together
  • lay foundations for merging distributions
  • help migrate a drupal site based on one distro to another

So what was the drive to integrate OpenPublish with Panopoly? Was it one or more of the above?

What does OpenPublish have that Panopoly doesn't?

What does Panopoly have that OpenPublish doesn't?

Will this patch become out of date - as things are added to Panopoly/OpenPublish? Does this patch target a specific version of the OpenPublish Panels module?

Thanks for your major contributions, @populist, Panopoly looks awesome.

I'd post to a Panopoly Drupal group if there was one but haven't found it as yet, though there is one for OpenPublish.
