Make simplemenu expand in nested form?

Hello - Thanks for the excellent module.

Is it possible to change some js to make it expand within itself, or nested?
It pulls down, then right, then down but sometimes then a menu from the left (horizontal and adjacent) will pop out just as I am selecting from the first menu. Unfortunately, this and the tooltips issue mess up usability for many users.
