error creating first registration field

I installed entity registration and went to my first content type and tried to create the first registration field and got the following error:

Notice: Undefined index: registration in field_info_instances() (line 687 of J:\Sites\ExampleSite\modules\field\field.info.inc)

went ahead and tried to finish setup of field but after enabling registration for the field
no registration functionality was available on trying to create a new content type.
