I have enabled the module and created a gmap preset. After changing the field display to static map, it doesn't show image. I have chacked the url and it is all wrong
http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?size=200x300&maptype=roadmap&markers=xx.xxxx%2C+yy.yyyy&sensor=false
so after updating the url it works fine.
http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?size=200x300&maptype=roadmap&markers=xx.xxxx%2C+yy.yyyy&sensor=false

yeah issue is still there and after applying the patch it is working fine.

Was able to apply the patch to http://drupalcode.org/project/staticmap.git/commit/809bf01 and it fixed my issue

This patch against the latest version fixes the issue by specifying an argument separator to http_build_query. It seems that on some servers PHP 5.3 uses '&amp' instead of '&' in this function (see the comments at: https://php.net/http_build_query). You can get the correct behavior by specifying which separator you want.
