How about adding "reset" to the DICTIONARY.txt? It could be either "zurücksetzen" or "zurückgesetzt".

"Ändern" might be better in some cases. See http://drupal.org/node/168674

Well, "reset password" is "Passwort zurücksetzen" for me. As you said, the English original may not be precise enough in this case.

Was heisst denn "zurück" in diesem Zusammenhang?

"Zurücksetzen" in German cannot mean anything else but "change back to the initial value," and it is a technical term. This is clearly not what we're doing with the password.

"Reset" in English has a broader meaning, including "re-set", as in "set again." I'd prefer "change password", but "reset password" covers our situation, too.

I fully agree. Still I'd like to see "reset" in a technical sense only which would be "zurücksetzen", meaning i.e. to set something to the default state. The user_status module uses "reset password", meaning to auto-generate a new one after re-enabling a user.

So I'd like to use "change" in your example as well which would help the translation and is more clear. So nothing changes for me. Except that it might not be wise to add this word to the dictionary if there are too many options.

When I translate I like to have many terms in the dictionary which helps and enables the German translation community to discuss and refine the wording.

I still think that my translation proposal is good. Your issue seems to be a bug.

"Zurücksetzen" is very good for "reset"... keep this as it is.

Ist zwar nicht im Wörterbuch, wird aber mittlerweile durchgäng (nach meiner Erfahrung) mit Zurücksetzen übersetzt.

Let's add it to the dictionary...

Spricht nichts dagegen, ich sah halt die Notwendigkeit nicht.

Thanks. This issue is much older than this editable page. I also fixed the two errors you introduced by making the entry ;)
