Actually, you can almost do this: just allow users to create a certain subproduct. However, they can't enter their own paypal address and the submit product form gives users way too many options such as changing roles for the buyer - things like this should only be available to the admin.
on a normal ecommerce site, you can let other users to create products. generally they are your employees. But putting a paypal number... it seems you want that if someone buys a product, who gets the money is a product creator. so they have a store, not only a product. well there was a module called stores and was part of ecommerce package. take a look on http://drupal.org/node/156460. we will post news there from now.
I am actually starting to develop a commissions module which will allow you to create not so much stores for users but you will be able to have users create products and then when they sell the product you can pay them this money and also keep commissions for the site.
The actual calculations will be a plugable module, so you can calculate this any way you want, and the payments will work the same.
Right. So what you want to do can't be handled by the current version of e-commerce? But you reckon the next version will be able to support it? And when is version 4 scheduled for release?
It could be, but it depends on 2 very significant rewrites of existing systems in E-Commerce, The customer system and the payments which is completely rewritten.

esadot commentedYou've got my attention too. Would be happy to use it.
Seems that a similar work is being done: http://groups.drupal.org/node/4487.

gordon commentedThis will not be available until E-Commerce v4.0 is released since it requires some changes that are very significant.
