I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a free hosting company that supports Drupal. I'm going to create a small internet site & i can't imagine it taking up more than 200Mb (absolute tops), & won't be needing much bandwidth to begin with.
My colleague has a Dreamhost acct so i might be able to set it up on that, but i'd prefer to get my own hosting plan.
Suggestions? Or all free hosts capable of hosting Drupal likely to be more hassle than they are worth?
thanks!

more hassle than they are worth. Keep in mind this fact, Drupal is will not create files on your system, its database based, thus its more important that you have access to a healthy MySQL server. Considering you can get some decent hosting these days under 10 bucks a month, I'd investigate a shared hosting plan.
thanks! has any one used
thanks! has any one used Webhostingbuzz.com (that someone has advertised in this forum)? that looks pretty affordable for a small project.
Free but not terribly reliable
I've run a few sites on www.serveraustralia.com.au
Has mysql support and is free. 250MB bandwidth per month and 50mb space. Had a few reliability issues. Am using it while building a site - probably won't use it on a live site (mostly due to bandwidth - rss takes up soooo much bandwidth).
Many choices....
I have tried many free sites, u can try many sites, but its really hard to find reliable ones. I had used ueuo.com for quite some time, its nice with no ads. You can try 110mb.com, its free with good uptime, and 2000gb space but I don't recommend it, they are always changing things, and all my database got deleted. That was sad. Now I am trying awardspace.com, it seems quite nice bit smaller space at 200mb, but the server seems nice, delete .htacess if you want to install drupal.
I found a pretty good one
They do require you to register a name at 9.95 per year which isn't too bad, but the hosting is free. They handle PHP and MySQL also. www.freehostia.com
I have had a few issues since I've been there, but their customer service department has been incredible in getting responses to emails and resolving issues in a VERY timely fashion.
Free host that I use
The free host that I'm using now for a few sites that seems to be what you are looking for is www.guildhome.org
I think it's like 250 to 300 Gigs disk space, 3GB transfer, 3 MySql Databases, FTp or web based upload, send mail and pop mail, 5 domains and 5 sub domains, Send a support ticket to remove the one small banner ad they place on the bottom of your page by default, they will remove the ad for you at no charge. I would have left the banner ad seeing as it's a small price to pay and the banner was rather small, but they had this one that was flashing and it just irritated me so I finally asked to remove the ads on my site.
Free Hosting
Check out
http://100webspace.com/ for free hosting with PHP/MySQL. They even have a free script section that has Drupal listed, just click it and it automatically installs drupal for you.
Better then nothing
