So I upgraded my install from 6 to 7.14. I followed the instructions, but now I have a bunch of modules that I cannot uninstall. I disabled the modules, but they were still in the modules folder. Big mistake. Now I cannot remove the modules from my drupal install. I removed them from the modules folder, but they are still showing up on my modules page.. but now there are red X's by the modules.

I have run update.php and nothing changes.

Anyone have some words of advice... ?? Any help will be very appreciated.

Roll back to your backup, and re-run the upgrade correctly, before wasting any more time. There are ususlly glitches in an upgrade but doing everything exactly right can keep them to a minimum.

If it is too late for a roll-back, you can start manually cleaning up the database in phpMyadmin. However, this is potentially such a big job, normally it is better to build a new site, and re-enter the content (either by hand, if it is a very large site, by migrating data). Often that the best way to upgrade Drupal in any event, if it is at all possible, because the official upgrade path is rarely problem-free.

So after thinking about blowing away everything, I left the install last night. I came in this morning and guess what.. ALL OF THOSE MODULES WERE GONE... It was like nothing every happened. Pisses me off that I spend 4 hours troubleshooting and then the next day the issue is fixed. Ugh.

Ah. Cron must have run. Always a good idea to clear caches and run cron.

Noob question I know, how do I "clear the caches".. are you speaking about my web browser caches? Or some caches in Drupal?

The correct answer is to suggest you enter 'Drupal clear caches' into your favourite search engine. I have answered this question so many times.... There is a button under Configuration > Performance for clear caches. More complete cache clear is possible with other methods.

There is a button under Configuration > Performance for clear caches. More complete cache clear is possible with other methods, which Google will find for you, and one of these is often required following an upgade or move of the site or other major change..
