The Facebook Comments Social Plugin (facebook_comments) looks to me like it provides identical functionality. I've not used either, but I thought you'd want to know about it.

Thanks for the interest in this module. We're away of the other module, which is why we had to call this one facebook_comments_box.

It would be helpful to people like me if there was some information as to what the differences are. That way I don't have to install both of them, and try to figure out what the differences are.

In other words, why should I use this one instead of the other one?

Yeah if they both do the same things but one or the other has more features we should merge them instead of having two. If you where aware of the other module the best things was to implement the features you wanted to add through patches on the issue queue. We like to collaborate to make it easier for users to choose.

Clarify the title for people searching for this exact question.

What needs to be done:

* Analysis of features of facebook_comments_box and facebook_comments.
* List of features that exist between the two.
* List of features that could be easily ported to facebook_comments
* List of features that would be more complex to port to facebook_comments (and explanation of architectural reasons for complexity).

As far as I can tell from both project pages:
- Both have Facebook comments as blocks
- Both have per content type settings
- Both add facebook meta properties to HEAD (not advertised in facebook_comments but in code)

Facebook comments:
- Has per node settings

Facebook comments box:
- Has Drupal 6 release

The maintainer of this module shoudl clearly state that this module is in the process of being merged into one single module, to avoid confusion as early as possible (especially between new users of the module because they will have to change quickly). We need to also need to let @wmostrey know and for him to kindly give co-maintainership to the maintainers of this module (probably after a few emails or IRC chats to discuss focus and future of project).
