I have created my first new account and have received the corresponding e-mail. But for some reason I do not have admin rights. On the first page, where it says, Welcome to your new Drupal website! and gives instructions to configure my website,I click on the administrative section and get the Access denied error. I am installing from my web host which uses fantastico.
Thanks,
Fola

You have posted this as
You have posted this as "Drupal 4.5.x or older". That is too old. Since that time we have Drupal 4.6, 4.7 and 5 (the current version) and in a few months it is going to be Drupal 6. This may matter. Some important fixes were made since 4.7.6, for example, to make it work reliably with PHP 5.2.
Also, installing with Fantastico limits your possibilities for support and updates here. We don't really know what Fantastico does. Well... actually we do know of a few things which it does wrong. For example Fantastico makes your database "latin1" with "latin1_swedish" collation, instead of "utf8" with "utf8_general_ci" collation as it was supposed to be, and that may be a problem with string comparison and user identification. See if you can get support from Fantastico or even better start over again without Fantastico.
Anyway, does the login work or does it fail? After login, if you go to http://yoursite.com/?q=user (the word "user", not your username) what do you see? A login form again or just an information page about user#1 or an access denied?
no access too
same here... i couldnt go pass through the admin link.
