Error message "Unfortunately we could not calculate any valid shipping rates for your order, and we require shipping service selection to complete checkout. Please contact us to resolve any issues with your order"
Source of error message is located in commerce_shipping_checkout_pane.inc executed on variable_get('commerce_shipping_pane_require_service', FALSE)

googletorp commentedThe error message you describe isn't related to commerce shipping, but instead whatever shipping method/provider you are using.
