I am wondering how do I make this messenger module experience similar to other Messengers on the market. For example: if you use MSN or Yahoo! messenger (their web versions too), the experience is nice i.e. you will see the buddy list in a pane and you can exchange IMs in real time. The messenger module doesn't have that capability unless I am missing something. Can you help me to make the messenger module experience similar to other IM/Messenger clients?

Well..modifying css doesn't help with getting asynchronous messaging. Messenger by nature should be asynchronous. Also, where are the statuses in messenger?

now that you have elaborated, Your topic seems to be a feature request.

Personally, I don't see Messenger as a prototypical "Instant Messenger" like Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and the like. It's built on AJAX, I'm not sure how much functionality AJAX allows with regards to what you are asking or how demanding on a site such functionality would be.
