Is organic groups overkill for my group blog?

I am running a group blog website where each blogger has his/her own blog page, and visitors can register on the website and post comments to anyone's blog.

However, the bloggers would like to have a greater granularity in administration of the content that appears on their blog pages, and I have had a hard time figuring out how to do this without using organic groups (by giving each blogger his/her own group and granting him/her full control over that group). I don't know if there is an easier way that maybe I am missing, so I wanted to ask here first.

The key consideration is that the bloggers would like to be able to administer and moderate the comments that appear on their own blogs, but not be able to administer the comments on another blogger's blog. I understand that there are patches that allow the original post author to have direct control of the comments, but I would like to achieve a finer granularity of control than that.

For example, some bloggers would like to have anonymous comments and some want to require users to register. Also, some want the comments to be published automatically, and some would like to have comments go into a moderation queue first. Is there any easier way to create this granularity of permissions than using organic groups?

In addition, is there an easier way than using organic groups so that each blogger administer his/her own taxonomy for his/her blog?
