Ok, so here it goes..... Im new to drupal and ftp all in one fail swoop and im crashing.

I am trying to load Superfish... Through my "add modules" i added Libraries 7.x-1.0 and Superfish 7.x - 1.8 and now im getting this:

"One or more problems were detected with your Drupal installation. Check the "status report" for more information."

when i click "check status" report i get this:

GD library rotate and desaturate effects 2.0 or higher
The GD Library for PHP is enabled, but was compiled without support for functions used by the rotate and desaturate effects. It was probably compiled using the official GD libraries from http://www.libgd.org instead of the GD library bundled with PHP. You should recompile PHP --with-gd using the bundled GD library. See the PHP manual.

and

Superfish library Not installed
Please download the Superfish library from http://drupal.org/project/superfish.

not sure what to do from here but there wasnt much install instructions that i could understand what it meant.

Hey Lynn,

Download the Superfish Library from Github (URL can be found here http://drupal.org/project/superfish) and extract and upload the files to /sites/all/libraries/superfish so that the superfish.js for example would be accessible through example.com/sites/all/libraries/superfish/superfish.js :)

Thank you for your response, would I have to create the libraries and superfish folders in ...../sites/all/libraries/superfish?

Yes, you should create the folders.

In the Github page, there's a button that says ZIP, there's also a "Downloads" link in the right.

:)

Title: Trouble installing "Superfish" » Package the Superfish library with the module to lessen install problems
Category: support » feature

I think the original support request is fixed now.
But there are many complaints with the manual install of the Superfish library (e.g. Superfish Module not recognizing Superfish Library etc.) and it would be nice to include the Superfish Library into the module package.
That would resolve the problems with downloading, typo errors in folder names, folder permissions, incompatibility problems, etc.

I agree - dependent modules should be included in the code. For instance, this version calls for Version 1.1 of the Superfish library - but the current Git version is 1.2-beta 2.

Packaging everything together would greatly simplify installation and encourage more people to use it.

It used to be, but it had to be removed because of this:

DO NOT include code from a non-Drupal project in the repository. If your module requires non-Drupal code, such as a third-party JavaScript/PHP library, provide a link to where the other code can be downloaded and instructions on how to install it.

Apart from the rule, there are some other very good reasons too: http://drupal.org/project/libraries (under Goals)

Also, I should note that it's already in my to-do list for v2 to make SF installation\update much smoother.

OK, I thought the code in github was your code. But since it is not, I can understand why you can't add it to the project.

However, there is a problem in that it is difficult (if not impossible) for someone not familiar with Git (i.e. many non-developers who use Drupal but don't write modules) to access the recommended 1.1 version on github because you didn't create a 1.1 branch. It's even difficult for developers like myself who have used (and continue to use for various reasons) CVS but have little experience with Git.

I would highly suggest you not use a developer's tool like github to post release versions; instead, package the files for a specific release and post them on the internet.

The code in Github is partly done by me (read the README).

Take a look at this: http://drupal.org/node/1276040 :)

Regarding the 1.1, there's a direct link here http://drupal.org/project/superfish (under the v1.8 installation guide) no need to look for it on Github.

Also, we're probably going to have an "Automatic Library Installation & Upgrade" feature, so it'll be no longer a big deal I think.
