I think another option for this module should be a vocabulary. Since the module works to archive news stories by date and with in the next few days, node type; why not allow it to archive by term. So then users can have the option to select archives by date and/or node type and/or taxonomy term.

I think filtering by taxonomy is more in the realm of a advanced search for the site or a tag-cloud implementation. So I don't plan on fixing this.
